A day after Ark Deck Bar sank near the sea link, the Bandra police has initiated an inquiry and begun recording statements of the boat's staffers who were onboard.
The preliminary inquiry will find out if there was any negligence on the part of the floatel owners and whether basic necessary precautions were taken.
"We will be taking help from the Mumbai Maritime Board to ascertain if there was any maintenance issue and if sufficient safety measures were taken," said ACP Sanjay Kadam.
Another police officer said, "A case can be registered if any irregularity is found. So far we have not found any negligence. It looks like because of the choppy water, the anchor was loosened, due to which the boat hit rocks, causing a hole that tilted the boat."
