Madhyamik has a small syllabus and it’s not difficult, says Class X Kolkata topper Sarthak Talukdar

The results for Madhyamik (Class 10 Board Exams) were released today. Results for Madhyamik (Class X board exams) were released today. Officials of West Bengal Board of Secondary Examination (WBBSE) declared the results at a press conference, 77 days after the examination. Students from the districts performed better than those in Kolkata.

As many as 56 students have secured their place in the top 10 ranking list whereas only two students from Kolkata have made it among the top 10.

The total number of students who took the test was 10,84,178 of which girls comprised 56 per cent and boys 44 per cent. The pass percentage this year was 85.49%.

Sanjeevni Debnath from Cooch Behar has stood first securing 689 marks out of 700.  Shirshendu Saha from Burdwan scored 688 marks and stood second.

Three students – Mayurakshi Sarkar, Nilabja Das and Mrinmoy Mondal – have stood third jointly getting 687 each.

Sarthak Talukdar who stood first from Kolkata with 683 marks and secured seventh position in the ranks tally, while Pabitra Senapati who got 680, has stood second from Kolkata and 10th overall.

In terms of pass percentage, East Midnapore district is most succesful with 96.13 per cent and Kolkata with 91.11 per cent is second.

Topper Sanjeevni Debnath said that she didn’t have a set schedule and studied whenever she felt like.

Sarthak, the topper from Kolkata is a student of Baranagar Ramkrishna Mission School said he had expected to score over 680.

“Madhyamik has a small syllabus and it was not a difficult task. My advice to madhyamik examinees is that along with madhyamik they should start preparing for their Higher Secondary as well. That is what I have been doing,” he said. He added that Physics has been his favourite subject and although he liked playing football and reading storybooks, he was not particularly fond of computer games.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated all the successful students on twitter. ‘Congratulations to all students who excelled and those who passed the Madhyamik exams. Best wishes for all your future endeavours. Good wishes to your teachers and families’, the tweet read.
