Madhya Pradesh Elections 2018: Voting on November 28 for all 230 seats

    At a day when both Rahul Gandhi and Amit Shah are in Madhya Pradesh, the poll schedule was announced by Election Commission in New Delhi. Madhya Pradesh election will be held as expected in one phase and the counting of votes will be done on 11th December, alongwith other poll-bound states. 

    MP has seen a long stint of BJP rule under Shivraj Singh Chouhan and this time, Congress is trying to project an united front to oust the saffron party from the state. Congress hopes that Digvijaya Singh, Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia can put aside their turf war to fight against BJP's might. 

     

    Polling for all 230 seats will be held on November 28. The nomination process will start on November 2 and last date for filing nomination is November 9. Candidatres can withdraw their nomination till 24th November. Congress got a jolt on Saturday when Akhilesh Yadav said that they are in talks with BSP for an alliance in the state. 

     

    Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday accused the ruling BJP of working for the interest of a few rich people and ignoring the farmers and other sections of the society.
    He also raked up the multi-billion Rafale fighter jet deal with France to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

    Gandhi said his party will ensure implementation of the tribal rights bill if voted to power in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajashthan, which go to polls in November and December.

    Claiming that the Congress did nothing for the tribal population, BJP president Amit Shah said in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh Saturday that his party had ensured that government funds reached the tribals and forest-dwellers.

    Addressing a rally at Jhabua in the state, Shah observed that under Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's government, people of this area could now afford motorcycles.
