Baal Aadhaar is a blue-colored Aadhaar card, for children below the age of 5 years. The Aadhaar enrollment for children is quite similar to that of adults. The Aadhaar card for a child or ‘Baal Aadhaar’ will be issued free of cost. There will be no biometric data captured in the case of children below 5 years of age. However, the biometrics of children that is their fingerprints and iris scans are not linked with Baal Aadhaar card. When the child turns 5 years, his/her biometrics (facial photograph, iris scan, and fingerprints) have to be mandatorily updated on their Aadhaar Card. The first update happens once when the child turns 5 years old and it is updated again mandatorily once the child is 15 years old.
