Mona Singh on hosting the show  ‘Extreme Makeover’ and featuring in a Band of Boys video with beau Karan Oberoi.

From modelling to acting (‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin’) to dancing (‘Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa’) and now hosting the show ‘Extreme Makeover’ (will soon be aired on Sony) Mona Singh has experienced it all. Moreover, she will also feature with beau Karan Oberoi in a music video of the group Band of Boys.

How is it hosting ‘Extreme Makeover’?
Although technically, I am the host of the show, I am actually a friend of the participants who is with them through all the stages of their makeover. I help them open up and talk about their experiences relating to the accident. I have come across some very gruesome cases. For most participants it has been a stigma.A girl shared how she couldn’t step out of her house for fear of being targeted with nasty comments. The experience has been both enriching and heart-wrenching.

Do the participants address you as Jassi?
No they don’t. I had expected people to call me Jassi all my life. And even if they do, I don’t mind. They connect with me because they know me as Jassi. I have been a part of their lives for a long time. That helps them break the ice.

You are known to be interested in music. Did Karan (Oberoi) and you bond over music?
Yes. We both like the same kind of music. He likes ghazals and so do I. He doesn’t like Rock and nor do I. Plus, we both come from an army background.

So will you sing or perform for the Band of Boys?
Karan and I will be featuring in a music video for the band’s album ‘Jaane Kya Hua’.

Why have you never been vocal about your relationship with Karan?
I like to talk about my work. Not talking about our love life doesn’t hurt Karan. He knows I am not comfortable expressing love publicly.

So when are you getting married?
Arre yaar, not so soon!

What else is keeping you busy these days?
I have been travelling a lot for my dance performances and product endorsements. Toby (Fernandes, ‘Jhalak’ choreographer) and I will be performing in New Zealand. After that I am headed to New York for the Bollywood Movie Awards followed by a world tour.
