After a tragic incident killed 3 and left 10 injured on the sets of Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 on Wednesday, new details are now being revealed by the crew present on set. Costume designer Amritha Ram, who was present on location, said that her Kamal and Kajal Aggarwal were all seconds away from being crushed as well.
Amritha took to her Twitter account and wrote, "Providential escape from the ghastly mishap. Literally, 10secs away from being crushed under. fortunate Kamal sir, Kajal n me who were right under are safe #count your blessings our crushed canopy under the crane. we are #safe RIP our fellow mates @ikamalhaasan@MsKajalAggarwal."
The accident took place after a crane with heavy-duty light came crashing down. A statement about the deceased was also released by Lyca Productions in which they identified the three people as assistant director Krishna (rumoured to be close to Shankar), art assistant Chandran and production assistant Madhu.
Kamal also expressed his sadness and wrote that "though he has overcome several accidents, this accident was the most horrific one that he has ever experienced. He added that though he was extremely saddened by the loss of three colleagues, the grief of their family members was far greater than his own. He offered condolences to the families of the deceased, saying that he shares their grief as one of them."
Indian 2 is being bankrolled by Lyca Productions and also stars Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simhaa and Priya Bhavani Shankar in pivotal roles. The team recently completed the second schedule after canning an action sequence worth Rs 40 crore in Bhopal. National award-winning stunt choreographer Peter Hein was roped in to oversee this action episode.
