Minor, who eloped with lover, sent back to family

A 15-year-old girl, who had eloped with her lover, was rescued by the Delhi Police from Jaipur. Since the girl is a minor, a case of kidnapping was registered and despite her willingness to go with the accused, she was sent back to her parents by the court on Wednesday and her lover was arrested.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Ajay, who eloped with the girl from the Bapa Nagar area on the intervening night of February 18 and 19.

“ On the basis of a complaint filed by the girl’s father, a missing case was registered. However, there was no mobile phone or any other clue. Sub- Inspector Narendra got a clue after scanning the CCTV footages of the area near the victim's house and one of the footages led us to Ajay, who worked nearby and was found missing,” said a senior police officer.

A police team was sent to Ajay’s native place in Jaipur where the suspect was present, but there was no clue of the victim. It was here that constable Suresh, who had roots in the area, gathered clues to know where the accused had hidden the girl. 

“During questioning, the movements of the suspect were verified and contradictions were noticed in his version. On sustained interrogation, he confessed to his crime and helped us recover the girl from a rented room in an adjoining locality in Jaipur,” said the officer.
