Ishant Sharma, who needed just one wicket to reach a milestone, just got that on the fourth day of the first Test between India and England. Ishant dismissed Dan Lawrence trapping him in front of wickets to get his 300th wicket in Test cricket, becoming only the sixth Indian bowler to do so.

However, through the same, he created an unwanted record for himself and became the first Indian bowler to do so. Ishant became the slowest Indian bowler to reach the 300-wicket mark in Tests. Yes, he reached the milestones in 98 matches.

Ishant is behind Ravichandran Ashwin, who achieved the feat in just 54 matches. In fact, Ashwin is the fastest bowler in the world to complete 300 wickets. Ashwin is followed by leg-spinner Anil Kumble (66), another off-spinner in Harbhajan Singh (72), all-rounder Kapil Dev (83) and Zaheer Khan (89).

Ishant, who didn't feature in the Australian series, needed three wickets before this game to complete the milestone. He dismissed Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer on successive deliveries in the first innings and needed just one wicket in the second.

Speaking about the achievement Ishant said after the day's play, "It's been quite a roller-coaster life. I've had a lot of experience, a lot of mentors who taught me how to bowl in the subcontinent and how to bowl abroad."
