Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly officially took charge as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday.

After taking over his charge, Sourav attended a press conference where he was asked about various aspects related to Indian cricket.

While speaking with the media, Sourav also talked about former Indian captain MS Dhoni and about all the speculations over his future.

Even though Ganguly refused to make any comments on the speculations but did say that it's totally up to MSD to decide whether he wants to continue or not.

"It depends on him. Even when I was left out, the entire world said that he will never make it. I believed in myself and played for four years. Champions don't finish very quickly," the BCCI President said.

The 47-year-old also said that everyone in Indian cricket from now onwards will be respected during his tenure, and the entire MS Dhoni situation will definitely be dealt with in same manner.

"I don't know what is in his mind, what he thinks about his career. So, we will deal with that. He is one of the greats of the game and India is very proud to have MS Dhoni."

"Over the period of time, when you sit down and take note of his achievements, you just say, 'Wow!'. So, till I'm around, everybody will be respected. That doesn't change," said Ganguly.

Ever since Team India's semi-final exit from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, Dhoni has made himself unavailable for the national side and was not part of the Indian squad which took on West Indies away from home and also South Africa on home soil.

According to recent reports, MSD will still remain unavailable for the upcoming series against Bangladesh which is scheduled to kick start from November 3.
