The Interpol has issued a red corner notice (RCN) against Purvi Modi, absconding billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi's sister and a Belgian national, in connection with the alleged Punjab National Bank (PNB) money laundering case.

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is also probing the case, has sent an extradition request regarding Neeshal Modi, Nirav Modi's brother, to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The MHA will now pursue it with Belgian authorities.

Neeshal Modi is a Belgian citizen and is an accused in the PNB case. The agency has filed a chargesheet against him, alleging that he was one of the beneficiaries in the multi-crore embezzled fund in the PNB scam.

In RCN issued against Purvi, it stated that the 44-year-old is accused of "money laundering". The RCN against her was requested by the ED. The agency wants to interrogate her to take its investigation in the case forward.

She was also named as an accused in the chargesheet filed in March, where she is alleged to have laundering proceeds generated by defrauding the Punjab National Bank's Brady House branch in Mumbai.

According to the Interpol notice, Purvi speaks English, Gujarati and Hindi and is a Belgian national. Once an RCN is issued against a fugitive, Interpol asks its 192 member countries to arrest or detain the person if spotted in their countries, after which extradition or deportation proceedings can begin.
