In the exclusive interaction, Ashutosh Rana revealed whether his character Col Luthra will appear in YRF Spy Universe's next instalment, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif-starrer Tiger 3.
Actor Ashutosh Rana revealed if his character of Colonel Sunil Luthra will return in the sixth instalment of YRF Spy Universe, Tiger 3. The YRF Universe canonically began with Ek Tha Tiger (2012), it wasn’t until Pathaan, which was released earlier this year, that YRF merged Tiger, War, and Pathaan together. The franchise will soon come up with the sixth instalment, Tiger 3. The upcoming Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif-starrer will follow the events of previous actioners, Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War (2019), and Pathaan (2023).
In Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan, Salman Khan made a cameo appearance as Tiger, and the former will make an important cameo in the upcoming actioner. But will Col Luthra reprise his role in Tiger 3? In the Spy Universe, Col Luthra appoints missions to Kabir (Hrithik Roshan from War) and Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan). In Pathaan, Ashutosh does mention Tiger, and it was expected that Ashutosh would be seen in Tiger 3.
In an exclusive conversation with DNA, Ashutosh revealed that sadly, Col Luthra won't be seen in Tiger 3. While promoting his upcoming family drama film Darran Chhoo, Ashutosh talked about his stint in the YRF franchise, and said, "Abhi toh War 2 aayegi, usko dekhiyega. Tiger 3 mein main nahi hu (Now War 2 will come, you will see me in that film. I won't be there in Tiger 3)." Ashutosh further asserted that he wishes to star in the major ensemble spy-thriller of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Hrithik Roshan as the head of R.A.W. "Agar kabhi inn logo ne banayi... jab yeh teeno ek saath khade ho jayege, toh uss mein shayad aap mujhe dekhenge (If they ever made the ensemble film, you might see me in that)."
Tiger aka Avinash Singh Rathore's senior, R.A.W head Ajit Shenoy was played by the late Girish Karnad. So after his demise, will Ashutosh's Col Luthra be the next head of Intelligence Agency? Ashutosh said, "Main yehi umeed karta hoon ki R.A.W ki zimmedaari mujhe milni chaiye. But Tiger 3 mein nahi hoon (I wish that I would be appointed as head of R.A.W in the film. But I'm not in Tiger 3)."
Ashutosh Rana's Darran Chhoo also stars Karan Patel. The upcoming comedy-drama will be released in cinemas on October 13. Whereas Tiger 3 will be released in the cinemas on Diwali 2023.
