Actor and Director Rishab Shetty has progressed with the pre-production of Kantara 2, the next installment of his hit movie Kantara. According to news reports, the sequel will have a bigger budget, wider cast, and thorough preparation to provide spectators with an immersive experience. The producers have set the dates for filming, and the first schedule will start on November 1.

"Rishab Shetty and his team have finished the writing and are currently immersed in pre-production. While the first part was shot in Shetty's hometown in Kundapura, Kantara 2 will prominently be shot in Mangalore. This location encompasses the required elements of jungle, land, and water as dictated by the script. The film has got bigger in budget and cast this time and will be filmed on a larger scale over a four-month schedule," a source close to Pinkvilla confirmed.

"Rishab Shetty has completed the script. He is currently undergoing physical training required for Kantara 2," Chaluve Gowda had revealed earlier to India Today. The producers also want to finish shooting by the first quarter of the following year, with a late 2024 theatrical release as their goal.

The prequel Kantara 2 will examine the origins of the mythology mentioned in the previous film. The hyper-local narrative will explore Panjurli Daiva's mythological beginnings. For two months, Rishab and his crew conducted research in the coastal Karnataka jungle, and they have been diligently putting together this upcoming portion to provide spectators unmatched cinematic experiences. A poster and title for Kantara 2 will be unveiled soon in an official announcement.

The deeply ingrained traditional customs of coastal Karnataka play Kantara focused on a conflict between a group of villagers whose land is protected by a local god and the forestry department's intention to take the property for the government. Shiva, the Kambala champion, and his father, a Daiva Kola artist, were both played by Rishab Shetty. He not only starred in this film but also directed it, alongside Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, and Pramod Shetty. It's predicted that Kantara 2, its prequel, would be made in a style and with material similar to the original, keeping authenticity.

Kantara was a Hombale Films production and brought in over Rs 450 crore at the box office. Fans have great anticipations for the next Kantara and expect it to be more visually stimulating than its predecessor.
