Hrithik Roshan's 'Super 30' vs Kangana Ranaut-Rajkummar Rao's 'Mental Hai Kya': The truth behind the clash of the titans

Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 was all set to hit the screens on January 26, 2019. But the film eventually got postponed and talking about the same, Hrithik tweeted, "Happy to announce that #Super30 is headed for release on July 26, 2019. बहुत जल्द समय बदलने वाला है! @RelianceEnt @NGEMovies @mrunal0801 @TheAmitSadh @nandishsandhu @super30film". By postponing, Hrithik's film avoided a clash with Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. But looks like, Super 30 is definitely clashing with a film starring Kangana in the lead.

Yes, we are talking about Mental Hai Kya starring Kangana and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles. This report came in on Monday and it left people in shock. Mental Hai Kya was initially supposed to be a March release, but then it got postponed to June and eventually to June 26, 2019. Reports started making the rounds that the clash is happening on purpose due to the controversies that took place between Hrithik and Kangana.

However, the makers of Mental Hai Kya released a statement which reads as "A lot is being reported about Mental Hai Kya clashing with another film at the box office on 26th July. 

The shift in the release date is a decision taken after recommendations from the distributors, trade analysts and a top research team, keeping in mind the other releases a week before and after this date. 

We have thus been advised to shift the release of our movie to 26th July, purely for business prospects.

On knowing that there is already a movie scheduled for a release on that date, we did everything in our purview to ensure the other parties that there will be no mudslinging and it will be a dignified release. We stand by assuring that to all other parties.

This is a call taken by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji telefilms considering better prospects for the movie at the box office.

Balaji Telefilms’ condemn the reports being circulated and would like to state that Mental Hai Kya will be releasing on 26th July to ensure better business growth and prospect for the film."
