Akshay Kumar-starrer OMG 2 has been garnering praises from the audience and despite getting an A certificate and clashing with Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, the movie has breached the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide in first week. However, there have been rumors that the movie is made on a budget of Rs 150 crore and that Akshay has taken a huge amount for the movie. However, the producer Ajith Andhare has finally broken the silence on this.

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Viacom18 COO, Ajith Andhare confirmed that the movie’s budget is not even near to the figures floating around and said, “The reports of the budget of OMG2 are grossly exaggerated. On the contrary, Akshay didn't charge a rupee in fee and in fact, walked alongside us in both the financial & creative risk involved in such a courageous film.”

He added, “We share a long history & understanding with him as a Studio since OMG1, Special 26, and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and I have been totally in lockstep with him in taking up scripts that are unconventional but stand for something larger & meaningful. Without him this risk was impossible to take, he was fully invested both creatively & financially.”

Earlier a source told Pinkvilla that OMG 2 has been made in a controlled budget and said, “OMG 2 has been shot in a controlled environment, much like most of the social dramedies made in the Hindi Film Industry. The cost of production is a little under Rs 50 crore. For those unaware, even OMG (2012) was made on a controlled cost of Rs 25 crore only.”

Helmed by Amit Rai, OMG 2 is a spiritual remake of Umesh Shukla’s hit film OMG: Oh My God! The film stars Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva’s messenger, Pankaj Tripathi as Kanti Sharan Mudgal, and Yami Gautam as lawyer Kamini Maheshwari. The movie also stars Pavan Raj Malhotra, Govind Namdev, Aarush Varma, Arun Govil, and Brijendra Kala among others in supporting roles. The movie was released on August 11 and clashed with Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, however, despite that, the film has collected Rs 85 crore in its first week and crossed Rs 100 crore mark worldwide.
