Gujarat's former Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela's son and former Congress, MLA Mahendrasinh Vaghela, quit BJP on Thursday. Vaghela sent his one-line resignation letter to BJP chief Jitu Vaghani.

He had joined BJP only three months ago. Sources say his father and veteran politician, Shankersinh Vaghela, is unhappy with the decision.

"Respected Jitubhai, I resign from BJP due to personal reasons," Vaghela wrote to Vaghani.

Vaghela could not be reached for his comment.

"Mahendrasinh was not happy in BJP as the party never gave him the importance he deserved. His expectation for the Lok Sabha polls ticket from Sabarkantha also faded as he got the hint that BJP did not wish him to contest polls. The party, however, had asked him to be patient till the Lok Sabha polls," sources said.

"Shankersinh Vaghela also is trying to have an alliance with several parties and may field candidates in the Lok Sabha polls as a third front. Mahendrasinh would join that front and may contest polls," sources added.

Mahendrasinh had joined BJP on July 14 in presence of party chief Amit Shah. He said he joined BJP with the blessings of his father. Surprisingly, his father and former CM Shankersinh Vaghela called a press conference and made it clear that Mahendrasinh should quit BJP if he wished to keep ties with him (Shankersinh).
