Lockdown in Bengaluru? Use Of swimming pools, gyms, party halls banned in apartment buildings

Amid rising coronavirus COVID-19 cases in Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka, Bengaluru police on Wednesday (April 7) decided to ban the use of swimming pools, gyms, party halls, and other such amenities in apartment buildings within the city.

"In the wake of increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Bengaluru, the Chief Secretary and Chairman, State Executive Committee, Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority...has imposed certain reasonable restrictions for public safety and health," a Bengaluru Police Commissioner's notice said.

“Rallies and demonstrations for any purpose by any group are prohibited across the city till April 20 to strictly comply with the Covid appropriate behaviour. Public functions and group prayers or any type of celebration in places of worship are also banned till April 20 to check the infection,” added the notice.

It is to be noted that Bengaluru has recorded the maximum number of new cases in Karnataka. Bengaluru has now entered the list of India's 10 districts with the highest number of new cases, according to Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan statement yesterday. The other cities are Pune, Mumbai, Thane, Nagpur, Nashik, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Delhi, and Durg.
