Shafqat Amanat Ali to release his forthcoming album simultaneously in India and Pakistan

Ask Shafqat Amanat Ali about the recent comments by singer Abhijeet about Pakistani singer’s presence in India illegally and he defends himself, “I come on a proper visa with all the required documents when I come to work in India. I don’t know why he said that. I come to India on a business visa. In any case, when we apply for a visa we have to submit all our documents,” he says.

He says that it is a free world and artistes should not be stopped from working or performing anywhere in the world. “It’s a big industry and there is enough work for everyone. Indian artistes too go out and perform and similarly artistes from abroad like Kylie Minogue also sing in Bollywood. There’s lots of work,” he says.

The music scene in Pakistan has suffered a lot at the hands of piracy and music companies; they are not willing to put in much without guaranteed returns. But Shafqat will release his forthcoming album simultaneously in India and Pakistan.

So what does he think about the statements the singer made against Pakistani singers? “I never met Abhijeet, but I would like to tell him that this is a very sensitive time. It’s a time to work against terrorism and not sabotage each other,” he says.
