Netflix on Wednesday finally launched its TV streaming services in India. The launch in the country came after months of speculation. The service caters to the new generation who are active on digital devices and 'cord cutters' (those that prefer to watch shows and movies online than on television).

Netflix has customised its subscription plans to the Indian market. Here is what you should know about Netflix subscription plans in India.

Services Netflix offers: The online streaming service provides syndicated as well as originally created Netflix shows and movies. It enables subscribers to access content via smart-phones, laptops and tablets. Some of the Netflix original shows include, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and Daredevil. Apart from this, it also has the vast library of the latest shows and movies.

Show's Indian subscribers will not have access: Subscribers to Netflix in India will not be able to stream those original shows of the company for which TV broadcasters in India have already signed deals for the broadcasting rights. This includes popular shows such as, House of Cards which features on Zee Cafe and Orange is the New Black (season 1-3) for which Colors Infinity has acquired the broadcasting rights.

First month free: Netflix is giving the first month of access free to users in India as part of its launch strategy.

Subscription plans: There are three subscription plans Netflix has introduced in India. This includes that Basic plan which is Rs 500 a month in India, which allows you to watch only on one screen at the same time. The Standard plan which is at Rs 650 allows viewing on 2 screens at the same time. Netflix's Premium plan can be watched on 4 screens at the same time.

Payment options: Netflix has customised the payment options in India to include payment through debit cards apart from credit cards. Subscribers that avail the launch plan will get the first month of subscription free, but will have to resume payment from the second month.

Cancellation of subscription: Netflix users can cancel their subscription at any time with the click of a button.

Video quality: While the Standard plan allows for users to watch content in HD, the Premium plan allows for UltraHD (4K) video quality of shows. The Basic plan offers content only in standard definition (SD) quality.
