After delivering the blockbuster The Kashmir Files last year, Vivek Agnihotri is awaiting the release of his next film The Vaccine War, which releases in cinemas this Thursday. Starring Pallavi Joshi, Nana Patekar, Girija Oak, and Raima Sen in pivotal roles, the film is based on India's battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The advance bookings for The Vaccine War began on Sunday. As Vivek Agnihotri took to Twitter to announce the same, a netizen replied to him and wrote, "In my opinion your movies are not worth watching. So would appeal to people not to waste their time. May Prabhu Shree Ram Ji give you some sadbudhi." Replying to him, the filmmaker wrote, "You just wasted time in writing this tweet. Means you are worried. Yeh dar achcha hai. (This fear is good)."

In a recent interview while talking about his film, the National Award-winning director said that his film celebrates the Indian scientists who developed "world's fastest indigeneous vaccine". Talking to Galatta Plus, Vivek said, "The Vaccine War is not about the Covid-19 warriors, it's a victory film. It is a war film. When you say Covid, you think about the frontline workers and doctors and patients, bu you don't see any patient or doctor in the film. It's about a bunch of scientists who believed that India can do it (battle the pandemic) while others thoughts India can't do it and how they made the world's fastest indigeneous vaccine. This is truly a superhero film, a genuine authentic superhero film."

Touted to be India's first bio-science film, The Vaccine War will clash at the box office with Fukrey 3 on September 28. The threequel in the comedy franchise features Pankaj Tripathi, Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, and Richa Chadha in the leading roles and has been directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.
