22 years after Gadar: Ek Prem Katha set several records, its sequel Gadar 2 is also creating havoc at the box office as the action-packed patriiotic drama has already crossed Rs 100 crore mark in India within three days of its release on August 11. The Anil Sharma directorial has also become Sunny Deol's highest-grossing film in his 40-year-old career

Manish Wadhwa, who plays the villain Major General Hamid Iqbal in Gadar 2, took to his social media accounts in the wee hours of Monday, August 14, and penned an emotional note celebrating the film's success. Sharing the two photos of Sunny Deol holding his neck, one from the real life and another from the reel life, he wrote, "Tara Singh ne gardan toh pakdi hai, magar is baar pyaar se (Tara Singh has held my neck, but this time with love)".

Manish, who also played the villainous role of Pakistani army official General Qadir in Shah Rukh Khan's blockbuster Pathaan earlier this year, added, "Overflowing with love and gratitude, I feel blessed to have shared the screen with him. A learning experience like no other. Excited for the future, can't wait to work together again soon @iamsunnydeol".

Gadar 2 has Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma reprising their roles as Tara Singh, Sakeena, and Jeete from the first part. In Gadar, Amrish Puri had played the main villain Ashraf Ali, Sakeena's father, who has a change of heart in the film's climax. In a recent interview, Manish had also opened up about replacing the late actor as the villain in the sequel.

"No one can take his (Amrish Puri's) place and I think everyone associated with the film, and its fans knows that. I remember when I met Sunny paaji, he mentioned how he knows I am a good actor but this was Gadar, and they need someone to fill in for Amrish Puri. He also mentioned how there are no good villains in the industry now. I just told him that I would try my best and with their support, try to deliver. I think he liked my sincerity and things just seamlessly happened", he had told indianexpress.in.
