Viral video: When Anushka Sharma auditioned for Kareena Kapoor Khan's role in '3 Idiots'

It's been more than 12 years since Anushka Sharma forayed into Bollywood. The actor-producer starred in several movies which are unique from each other and she went on to become one of the most sought after stars. Anushka has worked with many leading directors from Yash Chopra, Vishal Bhardwaj, Rajkumar Hirani to Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar and others. Now, we came across an audition tape of the actor where she tried for the leading role in 3 Idiots.

In the video, Anushka is heard saying, "I had auditioned for a lead role in a film in 2007. And, that film was 3 Idiots. No one knows it, no one watched the audition. You have not watched it, Raju sir has not watched it."

Hirani then says, "Anushka auditioned for 3 Idiots? No, no, no. Anushka never auditioned for 3 Idiots."

During her audition, Anushka gives Gracy Singh's monologue from the film Munna Bhai MBBS which she delivered towards the climax. The video then ends with Aamir and Rajkumar's surprising reaction to Anushka's audition tape.

As we all know, the role in 3 Idiots was then bagged by Kareena Kapoor Khan and went on to become a memorable one for her in her two-decade-long career.

Although Anushka didn't star in 3 Idiots, she went on to work in his two films PK and Sanju. The actor in her roles opted for an unconventional hairdo which people never saw before on her.
