Young cadres to engage first-time voters through fests
The Gujarat BJP's cadres will hold cultural festivals in colleges and universities across the state to woo young voters. This is an implementation of PM Narendra Modi's directive during the national convention of the party's Mahila Morcha, held recently in Gandhinagar. Modi had advised party cadres to reach out to youth who are first-time voters in the Lok Sabha polls.
The Gujarat BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) had held a meeting on Wednesday in Gandhinagar and decided to hold a slew of programmes to woo young voters. The young cadres of the party will approach the youth in colleges and universities and will hold a campaign named 'Pahela Vote Modi Ko Sankalp Abhiyan'.
The president of Gujarat BJYM Dr Rutvij Patel said, "We are acting on the word of our PM where he had directed the party cadres including women workers to approach young voters. We are going to channelise young voters in the programmes that attract them and will run our party's campaign for Lok Sabha polls."
"We will start this programme on the occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand on January 12. The programme will have different campaigns and elements such as Pahla Vote Modi Ko and Nation with Namo," Patel added.
An essay writing competition on the subject of 'Nation with Namo' will be held in schools from January 12-27, while Nation with Namo Volunteers Network exercises will be held during January 12-30 in which the youth will be registered as the BJP's primary workers through missed calls and messages.
The party will also appoint the campus ambassador in colleges and universities who will work as the party's campaigner in institutes. Besides this, programmes such as music festivals, cultural events, youth parliament, bloggers' meet and blood donation camps will be held during this campaign.
