Those with exam-related grievances with Bangalore University (BU) have something to look forward to as the varsity’s exam adalat is set to be inaugurated on Thursday. The university will be looking at cases pending since 2000.

“There are 4,392 applications that are pending for 10 years without any solution, bringing a bad name to the university,” said N Prabhu Dev, BU vice-chancellor, who on Tuesday sent an open letter to college principals to come forward with their grievances.
The colleges and the students can be represented either in person or through an authorised counsel.

The procedural modalities will be announced on Thursday.
According to Dev, most of the applications will get sorted out soon.
Highlighting the university’s efforts regarding exam reforms since 2009, Dev said currently the number of applications for revaluation is 10,000 to 12,000 per semester per 2.5 lakh students. Before introducing the reforms, he said, the number of applications was 98,000 per two lakh students.

Further, the v-c said that until 2009, the university used to take 120 to 140 days-and sometimes even 180 days-to declare the results. He said such delay used to jeopardise the students' future plans.
