Pune girl, Bengaluru boy top ICSE exams

The Council for Indian School Certificate declared the results of ICSE and ISC (Class 10 and 12 respectively) on Monday afternoon. The overall pass percentage for ICSE was recorded at 98.53%, and ISC recorded a total of 96.47%. The results saw a marginal increase of 0.3% for ICSE and 0.1% for ISC as compared to that of 2016.

A total of 1,75,299 students appeared for ICSE while 73,633 students appeared for ISC this year. This year, girls have done better than boys both in ICSE and ISC exams.

The first rank in ICSE was scored by Muskan Abdullah Pathan from Hutchings High School in Pune and Ashwin Rao from St Paul’s English School in Bengaluru with a score of 99.40%. The second spot was shared by Farzan Bharucha from Mumbai’s Greenlaws High School and Debashree Pal from Auxillium Convent School, Barasat, 24 Paraganas. The third spot was shared by Meenakshi S of Holy Angels’ ISC school, Thiruvananthapuram and Raghav Singhal from St Mary’s School, Pune.

Ananya Maity from the Heritage school, Kolkata topped the ISC exams with 99.50%. The second spot was shared by four students while five shared the third spot.

Website down

The CISCE website crashed after 3 pm as students waited with baited breath to see their results. “The site was down in the afternoon and I had to wait for a very long time to be able to check my results,” said Sowmya Banerjee a student from Mumbai. Schools could, however, download their results from the website.

What is new this year?

From this year, the council has made a provision for the candidates to apply for rechecking directly through the council’s website.

From the current year onwards, the council intends to make the digitally signed copies of the statement of marks and pass certificates available for the candidates taking the ICSE and ISC examinations through the Digilocker facility established by the Department of electronics and Information Technology 

(DeitY, Government of India).
