While the fire brigade claimed that the blaze that gutted Sara-Sahara shopping complex and Manish Market on November 26 was due to short-circuit, former chairman of Manish Market, Mohammed Ismail Jaan Mohammed, has alleged sabotage.
He claimed that 1993 serial blasts accused Mustafa Dossa’s aides had started the fire. He also blamed Haroon Dossa, the secretary of Manish Market.
Claiming that Dossa has threatened to kill him, Mohammed said the motive was personal enmity between the former and current management. “I had complained to civic chief Subodh Kumar, chief fire officer HN Muzawar, the police and other 15 state offices about illegal extensions, but no action was taken.” Haroon did not respond to repeated calls made by DNA.
“The exact cause of the fire will be ascertained after the probe is over,” said Shashikant Satav, ACP, Azad Maidan division.
