Sonali Kulkarni wishes to bag a dance-oriented film after ‘Jhalak'

Few know that actor Sonali Kulkarni is a classical dancer and that ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ (Sony) is like a dream come true for her. “I love dancing. In fact, my dream role as an actor would be a dance- oriented one,” says Sonali.

But didn’t she have any apprehensions taking up TV show? “Some of my friends weren’t encouraging about this. But I liked the format. Whatever I put my heart into, I get good results,” she asserts.

Quiz her on whether she thinks the show will boost her career prospects and she says, “People will know that I can dance. I have performed dances in very few films. Now, I hope to get my dream role.”

So is she willing to take up more TV shows? “No. I like films and theatre. It’s not that I look down upon TV, but I am comfortable with these mediums. I am getting offers to play a variety of roles in films. I have enough on my platter for any actor to feel jealous.”

Going back to ‘Jhalak’ Sonali admits that she was tense when recently her choreographer-partner Toby Fernandes was hospitalised for a stomach ailment. “But Toby is very sincere. He rehearses despite ill health. I was worried because I can’t see myself dancing with anyone else. Toby is perfect. Also, he doesn’t force his style on me and gives me movements that suit my personality. I give him complete credit for my performance,” she ends.
