A 32-year-old man, madly in love with a prostitute crossed all limits to meet her in prison, after he was denied entry by the prison officials as he had no proof of knowing the lady.

The man allegedly broke into the house of the lady, got her photo-proof, met her in the prison and later surrendered at the VP Road police station stating that he had broken into a house.

The man has been identified as Rehman Pathan, from Nagpada and has a dairy business.

According to the police, Pathan used to visit a 35-year old lady Sabiya Shaikh (name changed) at Khatija building at Patthe Bapurao Road in VP Road area for the last eight years. They were madly in love with each other and had plans to marry in future.

On January 13, a raid was conducted by the police at Khatija building and Shaikh was held on charges of PITA. “The jail officials asked Pathan to provide some photo of Shaikh to prove that he knew the woman,” said an official from VP Road police station.

He added that, a restless Pathan, on Wednesday went to Khatija building and broke in to obtain a picture of his beloved. “He then rushed to Byculla, showed the photograph of Shaikh to jail officials and met her,” the officer said.

Pathan then to the police surrendered after learning that a complaint for the break in was registered on Thursday. “We are making inquiries into the case,” police sub-inspector Milind Kate of VP Road police station.
