A Muslim cricketer attacked yet again by bigots on social media.
Irfan Pathan was at the receiving end of hate on social media yet again after he wished his followers a happy Raksha Bandhan. The former Indian cricketer posted a picture on Instagram on Monday where a Rakhi could be seen tied to his wrist.
While most people appreciated the 32-year-old for celebrating the festival, there were a number of trolls who attacked him for neglecting 'Islamic principles'.

On Tuesday, Irfan put out a strong statement condemning all those who criticised him for his post. "Using foul language, talking to each other rudely on the basis of religion. It shows nothing but your own learning which some people have gathered in their mind over the years. Stop this nonsense of putting each other down," he wrote.
Muslim cricketers in India have been subjected to ridicule by bigots since a while now. Recently, Mohammad Kaif was trolled for something as innocuous as playing chess with his son. He was also hounded for doing the Surya Namaskar earlier.
Mohammed Shami faced backlash recently for posting 'un-Islamic' pictures of his daughter's birthday. The premier Indian fast-bowler was also trolled for posting pictures in which his wife was wearing a sleeveless gown. While Irfan was himself ridiculed for sharing a picture in which his wife could be seen wearing nail-polish.
