Netflix announced on Monday that Sony and LG TVs are the first to receive its 2016 Netflix Recommended TV seal of approval. Now in its second year, Netflix Recommended TV was set up to recognize the best smart TVs out there for easy-of-use and performance, and of course those that are the best for binge-watching Netflix.

According to Variety Netflix has introduced seven criteria as part of the 2016 program, which it hopes will push manufacturers to improve their products. Manufacturers have to meet five out of seven of these criteria to meet the standard, although the criteria do include whether the latest Netflix app is available and how fast the app can be launched. Netflix's director of platform product management Brady Gunderson did comment however that, "The vast majority of the features we are working on benefit all internet TV services."

And as well as announcing that Sony and LG are the first to be recognized by Netflix Recommended TV, the company has also announced that the program will now be going global.
