Muslim organisations in the city here handed over a memorandum for President Pranab Mukherjee to the Sub Divisional Magistrate, urging the President to take steps to save the lives of women, children and other Palestinians in the ongoing strike by Israeli army.

The memorandum was presented after a dharna was staged yesterday by Muslim organisations, social activists and Congress workers at the Iqbal Maidan.

Key speaker, All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) member, Arif Masood, on the occasion strongly condemned the Israeli army and expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine.
He urged the President to take steps to end the ongoing war by Israeli army.

Maulana Masih Alam, another AIMPLB-member in his speech slammed America for its double standards and said that on the one side America was trying to impose a ban on Iran accusing it for keeping atomic weapons, but keeps mum over the atomic and nuclear arsenal activities of Israel.

A separate memorandum in the name of Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, was also handed over to the SDM urging her to punish the guilty Shiv Sena MPs who forcefully broke Roza of a Muslim catering supervisor by force-feeding him.

The members of various groups termed the incident as an attack on secularism and an insult to the Indian culture.

The Shia religious leaders, Jamiat-e-Ulema Hind religious leaders, AIMPLB members and many other Muslim organisations were also present on the occasion.
