Actor Kavi Kumar Azad, who played Dr Hansraj Hathi's role in Sab TV's popular show 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' passed away on Monday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest. He breathed his last at Mumbai’s Wockhardt Hospital.

He was an integral part of 'Taarak Mehta..' that recently made it to Guinness Book of World Records for ‘airing the highest number of episodes’ on television, both original and repeat. He had been playing Dr Haathi's role since eight years. Kavi had replaced actor Nirmal Soni, who played the role for a year since the show begun, in 2009. 

In the show, he was shown to be an overweight doctor from Uttar Pradesh who lived with his wife Komal and son Gulabkumar (Goli). He was a funny man who used to think and talk about food all day.

Not many know that apart from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Kavi Kumar Azad had also appeared in episode two of the season one of Disney Channel's show 'Best of Luck Nikki' in the role of Jaanbaz Jaadugar. Had had worn a typical blue and red superman costume in the episode.

In 2013, he played the role of one of the 10-century guards in Gulshan Grover starrer 'Fun2shh… Dudes in the 10th Century.'

He also reportedly had a small role in Aamir Khan and Twinkle Khanna's 2000 film, 'Mela.'
