As the shoot for the final season of Game of Thrones is nearing completion, stars of the award-winning fantasy show are bidding goodbye to the series that has been a big part of their lives. Maisie Williams is the latest one on that list.
Williams who is one of the handful characters of Games Thrones to have survived the axe until season eight took to social media to bid adieu to her character of Arya Stark. On Instagram, she wrote, "Goodbye belfast. goodbye arya. goodbye game of thrones. what a joy i’ve had. here’s to the adventures to come #lastwomanstanding #barely #immasleepforthenextfouryears #justkiddingidontsleep"
The caption was accompanied by the picture of blood-soaked white sneakers which are far cry from the costume she has been wearing for the past eight seasons. If only turned up jeans and sneakers were viable wardrobe choice to survive the hardships her character has suffered all these years.
Last we saw Arya Stark was by her sister Sansa's side after they plotted the death of Petyr 'Littlefinger' Baelish in the seventh season. It was one of the chilling moments when Stark sisters remember the wise words their father, Ned Stark, had instilled in them.
"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives."
Over the seasons, we have seen Arya Stark grow from being a fiery young girl, eager to learn the art of sword fighting, to becoming a master killer and a brilliant shape-shifting assassin under the tutelage of Faceless Men.
Going into the final season, Arya will be one of the only three kids of the Stark clan to be alive. As the Night King marches towards Winterfell, will Arya stay on the front? Or choose to tick off all the remaining names on her kill list?
Answers will be made available when the final season of Game of Thrones comes back to the small screen in 2019.
