Everybody on Friends dismissed Ross Gellar (played David Schwimmer) when he talked about living forever in the episode titled 'The One Where Phoebe Runs.'
Dr. Geller talks about computers that can carry out the same amount of functions as an actual brain. "So, theoretically you can download your thoughts and memories into this computer and live forever as a machine!" says Ross.
His friends discarded it as another boring thought from the palaeontologist, save for Joey's new roommate, Janine. But was there someone else listening to this idea?
A video released by Netflix makes a co-relation between Ross' theory and award-winning episode of sci-fi series Black Mirror — 'San Junipero.'
The fourth episode of the third season of Black Mirror dealt with the same concept and possibly is the only bright and happy episode of the series.
In 'San Junipero,' we see a seaside town in 1987, in which two exactly opposite young women build a strong relationship that defies the laws of space and time. We come to know that these women are living their younger selves in San Junipero, while in reality, they have aged to be senior citizens.
Ahhh, won't Ross be delighted to see this?
Season four of the Black Mirror will drop soon.
