Did you know? Madhuri Dixit Nene’s mom wanted to be a dancer

In an episode of Dance Deewane, contestants Alok and Palak performed on Shammi Kapoor’s hit number Badan Pe Sitare (Prince; 1969). Post the performance, Palak revealed that Alok’s mom has always been fond of dancing and can even do cartwheels.

When his mom performed on stage, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, who is judging the show, asked her for a reason for not participating in the show. She replied that due to her financial condition, she could only afford one of them to participate and hence wanted her son to achieve his dream, which eventually means fulfillment of her dream.

Moved by this, the actress recalled a similar story about her life. Says a source from the sets, “Madhuri said that it was her mom’s dream to become a dancer but because of certain circumstances, she couldn’t fulfil her dream. ‘And whenever she sees me dancing, she feels accomplished and happy as she believes that I am living her dream’, she reminisced.”
