In an effort to lure in more users to use Bing instead of the widely popular Google, software giant Microsoft has now introduced a new ‘Reward’ scheme. Under this scheme, the company will reward users for using Bing with points, which can later be exchanged for charity donations or freebies available on the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft explains, “On Bing.com, Level 1 members can earn points for up to 10 searches a day and Level 2 members can earn points for up to 50 searches a day (30 PC, 20 mobile). The search limit resets every day, so you can start earning again tomorrow.”

Microsoft Rewards points have no cash value. You can typically redeem 5,000 Microsoft Rewards points for about $5 of value on the Microsoft Rewards redeem page. With 6,000 points, users can get an Xbox Live Gold Membership which is usually priced at £9.99. With 9,500 points, users can get a one-month Groove Music Pass that is priced at£8.99 and more.

At the moment, the Microsoft ‘Reward’ scheme is available in UK. Other countries such as France, Germany and Canada will receive it in the coming months too.

In 2012, the company had also launched the ‘Bing it On’, a side-by-side Binge versus Google search-off challenge, in which Microsoft invited users to blindly choose which set they prefer.
