In the video, Das can be heard saying that since it was a Sunday, there was no practice and she was free to enjoy. She goes on to say that she has prepared "an Indian-style, specifically an Assamese-style Dal".
Adding that her room was filled with the flavourful aroma of the dal and people came asking her what has she had cooked, she said, "People went crazy after eating the dal."
The sprinter said that she and another Indian athlete Saritaben Gayakwad went to the market on Saturday and bought the sauce-pan and all the things required for cooking, while she had the induction cooktop ready beforehand.
Das added that there was a different feel in cooking outside the country, and ended the video with her popular catchphrase, "Mon jai" (which in Assamese roughly means 'I like').
One Twitter user shared the video which has been doing rounds of social media for a while. The exact date of the video is not clear but it seems recent given Das is currently competing in Europe.
Indian speedster Hima Das has caught the attention of everyone with her gold-winning spree this month. She has won five gold medals in a span of less than three weeks. Hima’s latest gold came on Saturday at the Nove Mesto Athletics Meet in Prague. She clocked a timing of 52.09 seconds to complete the 400m race, registering her season-best timing.
Earlier, she won gold in 200m in Tabor Athletic Meet on Wednesday. Prior to Tabor Athletic Meet, she won three gold medals at different events including Klado Athletic Meet, Kunto Athletics Meet, and Poznan Athletics Grand Prix.
Hima, known as 'Dhing Express', hails from the Dhing town in Nagaon district of Assam.
