PV Sindhu crashed out of the Denmark Open Super 750 as she lost to Beiwen Zhang of USA in the opening round of the women's singles on Tuesday.

Beiwen Zhang took an early lead in the game but Sindhu fought back to make it interesting. However, she could not close the gap as Zhang won the first game 21-17.

However, Sindhu did not gave up and took charge in the second game. She took a lead but Zhang was also trying her best. The American player closed the gap to 16-14 and then 17-16.

However, Sindhu kept her cool and took the next two points to make it 19-16. Sindhu took the game 21-16 to extend the match into a third game.

Sindhu was trailing 8-12 at one point in the third. However, she came back to make it 12-12. She grabbed the lead at 14-13 as both players fought hard for each point. 

Some brilliant play by Zhang saw her reclaim the lead at 16-15. A brilliant smash gave her the match point at 20-18. She converted the point to take the match 21-17, 16-21, 21-18.

Other Indians

In other matches, Saina Nehwal will be up against Cheung Ngan Yi of Hong Kong.

In men's singles competition, Kidambi Srikanth will be India's best bet and has been seeded seventh in the tournament. He will face Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus of Denmark in the opening round, while B. Sai Praneeth will play Huang Yuxiang of China.

However, it will be a difficult opening encounter for another Indian, Sameer Verma, as he will square off against third seed Shi Yuqi of China.

HS Prannoy also faces a tough first round match as he will be up against sixth seed Son Wan Ho of Korea.

Parupalli Kashyap doesn't feature in the men's singles draw.

In men's doubles, the Indian pair of Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy will take on local hope Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in the opening round.

Ashwini Ponappa and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will face the Korean combination of Seo Seung Jae and Chae Yujung in the first round of the mixed doubles competition.

Ponappa will pair up with N Sikki Reddy and play the American duo of Ariel Lee and Sydney Lee in the opening round of the women's doubles event.
