Defending champions Germany will be looking to win the World Cup for a record equaling fifth time (along with Brazil) in Russia. This may sound like a impposibble task but ‘Die Mannschaft’ certainly have the talent and personnel to do it.

Germany will be in Russia under the same coach that won them the title four years ago- Joachim Loew. While Loew has retained some names from the title-winning side, he has also added some new talents too.

The German team has many new and exciting talents like Timo Werner, Leon Goretzka, Julian Brandt, Antonio Rudiger , Niklas Sule, Sebastian Rudy, Joshua Kimmich and Marvin Plattenhardt. However, Leroy Sane, despite having a stellar season at Manchester City was not included in the 23-man side.

Germany’s group comprises of Mexico, Sweden and South Korea. Any of these sides can turn the table on the champions on any their day.

However, the side are currently struggling for form ahead of their title defence following a run of five matches without a win, and a first defeat to neighbours Austria since 1986.

"If we play like that in Russia, then we have no chance," Loew raged after Germany lost 2-1 to Austria in Klagenfurt last Saturday.

However, this slump may just need one good win to go away. Germany are known as side who stick to the basics and do the right things to win. But it does not mean then don't have a certain player to their football. This brand of precision football makes them a tough side to beat. They certainly have the firepower to score goals and win games.

They have received a timely shot in the arm with the return of goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer after eight months out with a foot injury.

Why Germany may win the FIFA World Cup 2018

Germany is team with great mixture of experience and young talent. They have one of the best goalkeepers in the world in form of Manuel Neuer (and another to back him up in Ter Stegen). The presence of Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels gives them solid foundation at the back. The combination of senior players like Thomas Muller, Marco Reus and Mesut Ozil with new talents like Timo Werner, Julian Brandt and Julian Draxler will be lethal.
