His Test debut was quite grand with the Man of the Match trophy being the icing on the cake but India's latest spin sensation R Ashwin plans to have a low-key wedding with his childhood friend Preethi Narayanan in a few days from now.
With a nine-wicket haul, including six in the second innings, against the West Indies in the just-concluded opening Test in Delhi, Ashwin became only the third cricketer to get an MOM on debut.
He will take a break to get married on November 13, just a day before the second Test in Kolkata.
According to his father, Ravichandran, the off-spinner and Preethi were engaged earlier this year during the third edition of the IPL.
Ravichandran, reluctant to divulge details, said the marriage, scheduled would be an intensely private affair restricted to the two families and close friends.
"It was decided by our family to make the function a low key affair and would be restricted to the two families and close friends," he said.
The 25-year-old Ashwin made his ODI and Twenty20 debuts last year, after being a strike bowler for IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings.
