Abhishek Nayar was oblivious to all the drama in Bangalore on Saturday.
The all-rounder was busy batting for his employers, BPCL, in the DY Patil T20 tournament even as honchos from IPL teams were going all out to secure him.
“I was on the ground. After the game, I was watching TV in the dressing room, hoping the auctioneer would call out my name. That’s when I received a couple of text messages. I realised I was already sold! Well, I was speechless for the first couple of minutes. It was quite unbelievable,” Nayar, who was picked up for a cool $800,000 by Kings XI Punjab, told DNA.
“This (new contract) is a reflection of my hard work at the domestic level as well as my exploits in the IPL. The money, too, is really big. This is for my family. My dream, though, always was, is and will be to represent India ,” Nayar said.
