Anil Kumble was chosen over Ravi Shastri for the position of head coach of Indian Cricket team last week. Both the former cricketers were interviewed by BCCI's advisory panel comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, and Sourav Ganguly.
If media reports are to be believed, Sourav Ganguly walked out of the room when Shastri was being interviewed via video conference from Bangkok. Indicating a rift between two cricket legends of India.
Recently, Ravi Shastri opened up about the interview process. Speaking to Times of India, he said that the reason behind Sourav Ganguly's dismissive behaviour can only be explained by Ganguly himself.
Former head coach of team India, Shastri said, "All I can say is that Ganguly wasn't there when I was interviewed and you should ask what problem Ganguly has with me instead of asking me."
He also added that he was disappointed for a day to have missed out on the job after a dream run of 18 months with the team. But he has moved on and is looking forward to some time away from cricket.
Therefore next thing on his agenda is to go to West Indies to celebrate 80th birthday of Sir Gary Sobers.
