Pakistan's cricket authorities have cancelled their ambitious Twenty20 league project, due to a lack of time schedule which was meant to be held ahead of the World Cup.

According to Sport24, the Pakistan Cricket Board planned to hold the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the United Arab Emirates in January 2015.

The tournament was to be as lucrative as the Indian Premier League and Australia's Big Bash.

Since international cricket in Pakistan was stopped following a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in March 2009,  the Pakistan Cricket Board has been experiencing increasing issues. The Twenty20 project was an attempt to recover from huge financial losses.

In 2013, the Pakistan Super League was cancelled due to logistical problems.
