News of Cristiano Ronaldo donating £5 million to Nepal earthquake relief fund is false: Report

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo once again made the news for showing generosity towards the victims of Nepal earthquake when reports came out that the soccer ace donated 5 million pounds to Save the Children's Nepal relief efforts.

Unfortunately the reports are untrue. According to The Independent, a spokesperson for Save the Children said that the recent report of Ronaldo's contribution towards Save the Children's Nepal earthquake relief efforts is untrue.

Ronaldo is an ambassador of the organisation. The reports earlier had claimed that Ronaldo chose to donate 7 million euros because it matched the number of his football jersey.

Save the Children added in their statement that the athlete had used his voice and global visibility to raise awareness of the problems faced by the most vulnerable children around the world, including those affected by the earthquake in Nepal.

Earlier Ronaldo had donated money to rebuild villages in tsanami hit Indonesia in 2004. In 2014, he donated a shirt and boots to help raise money to pay for an operations for a 10-month-old-baby. Ronaldo was quick to tweet about the relief work being undertaken by Save the Children. He urged his fans to help those affected by the devastating earthquake.
