Uttar Pradesh chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has been drafted into the Test squad for the first time, replacing injured veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra for the one-off Test against Bangladesh in Hyderabad.
“Mishra has been ruled out of the match after he sustained a knee injury while fielding in the Bengaluru T20I match against England. He has been advised rest and will undergo further medical examination,” said a BCCI release on Tuesday.
Yadav, who was in the squad along with other India A players who were in action in the two-day warm-up game against Bangladesh, bowled in the nets early on and also batted towards the end.
Though it is unlikely that Yadav will get the nod as besides Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, India have another Yadav, off-spinner Jayant Yadav as the third spinner. Jayant is back fit after missing the Chennai Test due to hamstring injury.
