I-League derby ends on tragic note for a Mohun Bagan fan

A 21-year-old Mohun Bagan supporter met with a tragic end while returning from the I-League football derby match in Siliguri where he died of an accident at Baranagar Road Railway Station this morning.

Soumya Mukherjee of 41, D D Mondal Ghat Road, Dakshineswar met with an accident while disembarking from the train on his return from Siliguri after watching Sunday's derby, Mohun Bagan stated in a release. He was rushed to R G Kar Medical College and Hospital at 8.30am under critical condition and he succumbed to his injuries around 11.15am.

"The club management and members deeply mourn his death and extend their heartfelt condolences to the grieving family," Mohun Bagan said. Mohun Bagan and East Bengal played out a goalless draw in the I-League derby.
