Mohammad Hafeez scored a fine 224 against Bangladesh in the first test at Khulna as Pakistan reached a commanding 537 for 5 on end of day three.

Hafeez's double-century was the best by a Pakistan batsman against Bangladesh, which helped them take a huge lead of 205. Also half-centuries from Misbah-ul-Haq (59), Asad Shafiq (51*) and Sarfraz Ahmed (51*) helped Pakistan's cause.

Hafeez was almost unstoppable as the Bangladeshi bowlers failed to disturb either him or the rest of Pakistan's batsmen. Shakib Al Hasan, who ended up with figures of 0 for 122  was the most expensive of the Bangladeshi bowlers.

With Shafiq and Ahmed out to resume proceedings come day four, it remains to be seen as to whether Pakistan can effectively shut the door for a Bangaldeshi comeback.
