London: Sacked Manchester United manager David Moyes had reportedly been an unexpected presence outside Anfield ahead of Liverpool's Premier League clash against Chelsea, as bookmakers put up a bronze statue of the Scot outside the stadium.

The former Everton boss Moyes' stewardship at Old Trafford, which led to United's poor season, has reportedly been a contrast to Liverpool resurging at the top of the Premier League table under Brendan Rodgers.

Bookmakers Paddy Power went ahead with a typically cheeky publicity stunt to amuse Liverpool fans by erecting a bronze statue of Moyes, who was sacked last week from his post as United's manager just after 10 months after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson, outside Anfield, Metro.co.uk reported.

A spokesperson from Paddy Power said that Moyes and United pairing might have had none of the magic of a drunken Tinder date, but there is no doubt that the Scot is the 'chosen one' for the Liverpool faithful who have also enjoyed their club go from strength to strength this season.

The spokesperson added that like the former Liverpool boss Bill Shankly, Moyes has been the icing on the cake when it comes to making the fans happy.
