Brushing off the Australian Open experience, Novak Djokovic fought his way into the second round of ATP World Tour 500 event in Acapulco, Mexico.

The Serbian took down Slovakian ATP veteran Martin Klizan 6-3 7-6(4), improving from 0-3 in the opening set.

The World no 2 had to save four break points during his first three service games. Djokovic converted a breakpoint to take the 4-2 lead in the first set.

In the second set, Klizan started swinging with lethal forehands and drop shots. According to ATP World Tour site, the five-time Tour champion hit 25 winners. But that was countered with 30 unforced errors giving Djokovic the edge who only committed 11.

Djokovic broke Klizan in the tie-break for the straight-sets win.

In the second round, wildcard Djokovic will now face the winner of the match between Argentine Juan Martin del Porto and Frances Tiafoe of the United States.
