It's not the best, or the flashiest, but it gets the job done and then begs for more.

The Swipe Ultimate Tablet was unveiled at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) earlier this year, and it definitely held promise. While not the greatest tabtop out there, the Swipe device aims to be the more long-lasting companion.

The Swipe Ultimate comes with a 10.1” 1280x800p multi-touch display, as well a detachable magnetic keyboard. It packs an Intel Atom Z3735D 1.8GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. The display is nothing to rave about but it still makes for a sizeable screen to watch movies on. And at just 580g, it’s not uncomfortable to hold on to for even extended periods. And let’s not forget how handy that keyboard can be.

The tablet comes with 32GB of internal storage and supports external drive via micro USB. It also has a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera, for all your Skyping needs. Don’t expect to take any amazing pictures on this device though; clicks are grainy even in the best lighting.

The Swipe Ultimate also packs a large 7000mAh battery, one that got me through a good four straight hours of Modern Family reruns, and still had half the battery to offer me. If you use this as a secondary device, as most tablet users do, I see this only requiring a charge approximately every two days. And it makes for the perfect travel companion!

This is one of the cheaper tablets on the market today, and it shows, but it’s still definitely a good budget buy, if you want to keep your kids entertained on those long road trips, or you just need another smart device around the house.

What we lliked:
Long battery life
Decent storage space
Light, easy to hold

What we didn't like:
Screen not up to par
Cameras are grainy
