Windows 10 is going to be the final revision of Microsoft's operating system. According to a BBC report, company executive Jerry Nixon made the announcement at the Microsoft Ignite event held in Chicago from May 4 to 8.

Microsoft launched Windows 10 back in January at their event in Redmond, Washington, with a range of exciting features. In an earlier report, Joe Belfiore, a Microsoft executive stated that Windows 10 offers the "familiarity of Windows 7 with some of the benefits that exist in Windows 8 in order to help business users make the transition".

However, Microsoft  is now set on the idea of Windows as a service, reveals the Verge. It said that in the future Windows 10 will be improved in instalments instead of launching new stand-alone versions. This can only be achieved by splitting the operating system into separate parts, so that it can be updated independently, in order to successfully work across multiple device types, according to the Verge.

Microsoft has yet to reveal their plans on their new project after Windows 10.
